  Project: COMMITTED, a feature-length documentary film that follows Joe Baker, a garage band-musician with a history of mental illness who falls in love with a young girl from China that he meets over the Internet. Joe travels to China, marries EnYu, and brings her to live with him and his father in his childhood home in New Jersey.

  Notes: Preferably LA based. Working in FCP. Should have both doc and feature experience.

  Synopsis:
  Lent is the forty-day liturgical season of fasting and prayer before Easter. For Usmail, a hormonal 15 years old, this couldn’t be any truer. After an unfortunate incident, Usmail decides to reflect on himself and his bad habits.

  Character Descriptions:

  MOM:
  Latina/Late 30’s – Early 40’s. Very firm and strong Latina mother.

  DAD:
  Latino Late 30’s – Early 40’s.
  The complete opposite of a
  stereotypical Latino man. Sheepish and quiet. Not very boisterous. Worries a lot about his son.

  PAUL:
  Any ethnicity – must be able to play ages 14-17. High school sophomore. Makes lewd jokes/comments. It’s clear he hasn’t matured yet.

  FAUSTO:
  Latino – must be able to play ages 14-17. A skinny, scrawny looking kid. Tries too hard to be gangsta.

  richard sandler will screen two of his new york city documentaries:

  "brave new york," (2004, 54:00) and,
  "SWAY" (2006, 32:00)

  and avenue"B," east village, nyc.
  when: august 22, 2008, 8:15 pm

  blurbs: "brave new york," is a free form documentary video that loosely chronicles the last 12 years of intense change in the east village "hood." From the reopening of a newly curfewed Tompkins Square Park and Wigstock in ‘92, to the destruction of the cherished Loisaida Community Gardens, to the yuppie invasions of the dot com years, to the present era, indelibly stamped with post 9/11 grief, this durable, lusty neighborhood survives in spite of a real estate gold rush that has excluded all but the well-to-do. The movie's main voices are those of the artists and street people whose wisdom and commentaries upon the dominant culture give us pause amidst the speedy approach of a "brave new world."

  "SWAY," is a free-form video documentary edited from 14 years of daily subway video shooting. there is a lot of music and poignent nyc moments.

  mr. sandler will be present to introduce the documentaries and to answer questions after the screenings.....
